MLB: Albert Pujols on power surge for Angels, could join 500 club vs Nats or Yanks…….

imageAfter going homer less with only one rbi for the first seven games of the season, Los Angeles Angels 1st baseman/DH, Albert Pujols, has been on a power surge as of late. In the Angels last 11 games, Pujols has gone deep six times and driven in 13 runs. He’s done so in a very quiet manner.  However, he’s been even quieter on his pursuit to join Major League Baseball’s 500 homerun club.

Pujols’, homer count sits at 498. The way he’s swinging the bat these days, 499 and 500 could happen this week. It could happen on a pretty big stage, as the Angels travel east to face the Washington Nationals and New York Yankees this week. Hitting number 500, even though it is the new Yankee Stadium would be pretty sweet.

It’s good to see ‘Fat Albert’s’ bat come to life. Now, let’s see if he can keep it up. If so, and the rest of his teammates not named Mike Trout can follow suit, the Angels could contend in what should be an ultra – competitive AL West……
