MARQUEE MATCHUPS OF THE WEEK
AUBURN (+5) at Clemson
Tigers face their first tough test of the season on the road at Death Valley. Both programs are very similar in that they both reside in a state where their cross-state rival is the larger state school. So, Auburn is looked at as the little brother to Alabama, and Clemson is looked at as the little brother to South Carolina. However, the Tigers have been more successful on the football field than the Gamecocks. Also, both teams have two National Title Game appearances this decade (Auburn: 2010 & 2013, Clemson: 2015 & 2016), each winning one and losing the other.
Last Meeting: 2016 – Clemson won at Auburn 19-13.
TV: ESPN – 7PM ET
GEORGIA (+5) at Notre Dame
Number 15 Georgia Bulldogs take on the 24th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish at South Bend. Georgia QB Jake Fromm in his first road test vs an Irish team that won four games in 2016. Georgia will need the running game of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel to make things easier for Fromm and the Georgia passing game.
Last Meeting: 1981- Georgia won in Sugar Bowl over Notre Dame 17-10. First and only matchup between the two teams.
TV: NBC – 7:30PM ET
SEC MATCHUP of the WEEK
SOUTH CAROLINA at MISSOURI (-3)
Mizzou looks to get a leg up on the SEC East by avenging a 31-21 loss to the Gamecocks in 2016. The winner of this game could set themselves up to contend for the east title.
